Creating Space was born from a desire to help people experience internal transformation—quiet shifts in mindset, emotional release, and renewed clarity—through the simple, powerful act of creating.
We saw how often people carry stress, grief, and unseen burdens—and how art gently opens a doorway for expression when words fall short.
So we created an art studio where you can come to reflect, reset, and express yourself freely. A place of inspiration and soul care. An artistic sanctuary—cozy and eclectic —where your soul can exhale and creativity can unfold without pressure or perfection.

Our Team

More than twenty years ago, Melody interviewed Stacy for a position at her downtown boutique. Stacy got the job — and gained something even better: a mentor. What began as employment turned into years of friendship, honest conversations, and steady support.
Through difficult seasons and counseling sessions, Melody modeled what it looks like to truly hold space for someone — to listen deeply, ask thoughtful questions, and resist the urge to fix. That grounded, compassionate presence is woven into Creating Space.
They share a love for cats, funny t-shirts, velvet, flowers, bold color — and turning messes into something meaningful. But more than that, they share a belief that creativity is one of the ways we return to the Creator — the original Artist.
Creating Space is cozy. It's honest. It's imperfect on purpose.
And it’s been shaped over decades — not overnight.
We’re honored to invite you into it.

My background is in graphic design and I'm currently a photographer and fine artist. I'm fascinated by neuroscience and the psychology of art and its effects on mental health, which sparked me to complete my training as a Therapeutic Art Facilitator.
My two delightful daughters (17 and 20) are been my artistic muses and personal comedians. My handyman husband is my best friend and he's been a huge part of making Creating Space a reality ... especially in encouraging me to keep going when I wanted to give up. In my spare time you can find me snuggled up with my Golden Retriever (Rue) and two cats (Matisse and Claude), out in nature chasing the golden hour, trying to grow a wildflower garden with more flowers than weeds, or learning a new hobby. Currently at the top of my list: linocut, freestyle embroidery and east coast swing.

I feel the most alive when I'm creating something with my hands. When my thoughts feel tangled, the simple act of creating something (often very messy) has been one of the best ways to work through it. My love for abstract art began when I discovered it could be a safe place to pour things out in a kind of secret code. It didn't matter whether anyone else understood it—what mattered was that I didn't have to keep it locked inside me anymore ... things I told myself I would never tell anyone. The freedom I felt when I was able to get those emotions out of me in a tangible way was life changing.
That same freedom is what Creating Space offers to you.
For several years, the idea of a place like this has been on my heart. God showed me a vision of the blueprint for this space and It feels like a dream come true to have this project come to life! I'm so grateful to have others experience the freedom that comes from creating art and inviting God into the process.

Through guided creativity we can literally reshape our thoughts, so we can see life differently thus redirecting our behaviors to a place of purpose, power and freedom. Creating Space brings all the elements of my past experiences addressing the good of the whole person - emotionally, physically, spiritually and intellectually. Change your brain - change your life.
I live with 3 delightful guys - Brad my hubby, Honey & Sweetie who wear tuxedos and are of the furry feline sort. My 2 girls, their hubbies and all 8 grandkids live on the same lake we do - life couldn’t get any better. In my spare time I love to tackle artful projects, go fishing, light a campfire, curate an amazing playlist, eat good food and be home in my own part of paradise.
I believe St. Irenaeus of Lyons said it best and it’s why I love Creating Space, “The Glory of God is a Human Being fully alive.”

My PFE (purpose for existing) or personal mission statement reads like this: “I’ve been put here for this time to create beauty in the world around me and to cultivate beauty in those who God puts in front of me.”
Arriving at this understanding and ultimately the ability to put it into one sentence didn’t happen overnight, instead God has been crafting this magnificent mosaic called a life into something that can actually make the world a better place. Being no stranger to childhood trauma revolving around loss, I was the caboose kid in a single parent home who found her happy place in creativity - mostly what looked like messes but were actually grand experiments in colors and textures; it’s where I felt fully alive and transcended everyday life that felt more like dark spots & gloomy blots.
My formal training is as a graphic artist but the overall career path was a winding one with many forks which now looking back make complete sense. I’ve owned multiple businesses that focused on making the spaces we live and work in beautiful; 25 years were also spent in pastoral ministry caring for the emotional and spiritual side of people. Now I currently carry certifications in Mental Health and Professional Life Coaching as well as a Therapeutic Art Practitioner.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a place where:• minds find clarity• bodies release tension• spirits are renewed• hearts encounter truth
Whether you're processing emotions, seeking restoration, or simply craving a place to slow down, Creating Space offers room for your soul to breathe and to let your creativity awaken.
Our creative experiences are designed to encourage internal transformation—quiet shifts in perspective, emotional release, and renewed clarity that often ripple outward into daily life.

Our Approach

Our approach weaves together creative expression, gentle somatic practices, and spiritual rhythms to support the whole person: mind, body, and soul. Through art, we help quiet busy minds, regulate the body, and make room for what’s happening beneath the surface. For some, this becomes a pathway to deeper connection with God; for others, it’s a way to reconnect with themselves. Both are welcome here.
At Creating Space, art is not about performance or productivity. It’s a practice of presence.
We believe creativity can be a way of helping us listen more closely, express what we can't find the words for, and make room for healing and insight.

Our Values

Beauty: We value beauty in all its forms—visual, emotional, relational, and spiritual. Beauty helps us slow down, notice more deeply, and remember that goodness is still present, even in unfinished or imperfect places.
Goodness: We seek what is healing, kind, and honest. Our work is rooted in care—for people, for process, and for the spaces we create—believing that gentleness and integrity matter.
Truth: We believe truth brings freedom when it’s approached with curiosity, compassion, and courage.
Faith: We believe in God as Creator, Redeemer, and ever-present Companion, and we trust that God meets people in the creative process. While we're rooted in a Christian faith, we welcome you wholeheartedly—without pressure or expectation.
Reflection: We value slowing down. By taking time to notice what’s happening beneath the surface, we invite insight, clarity, and meaningful growth.
Gratitude: We practice gratitude in both the big and small moments. We believe gratitude has the power to reorient our hearts and minds.
Creativity: We encourage and celebrate creativity in all its forms. If it’s important to God, it’s important to us.
